This backyard remodel is built around a generous hardscape that makes the space usable year-round. A large brick-paver landing sets the primary gathering zone, with artificial grass softening the edges for low-maintenance green. The fire feature and BBQ island are constructed from modular concrete wall units—a larger-format block system coordinated to the pavers—so the pieces read as a matched set. Precast caps finish the tops cleanly and give both elements a tailored profile.

Seating is integrated at the fire pit with a built-in L-shaped bench, sized for conversation and easy circulation. Along the back of the yard, a low retaining/seat wall addresses the hillside condition common in San Diego lots, visually grounding the space while keeping the upper slope and fence line tidy.

The result is a cohesive outdoor room: durable pavers underfoot, coordinated blockwork for the fire pit and BBQ, and a ribbon of artificial turf to balance the hardscape. It’s straightforward to maintain and ready for everyday dining, weekend grilling, and cool-evening fires—modern lines, consistent materials, and a layout that simply works.
